Powder Room Refresh: The Design
Welcome to Maison Michelle, where I'll be sharing home decorating inspiration and a bit of my journey of slowly turning our house into a home.
I moved into an outdated Tudor house with my family during the pandemic. My husband and I knew it would be a long process fixing it up over time (because… life!), and while we've done a lot of cosmetic work (painting, replacing carpet with hardwood, restaining, redoing our stairs, etc.), the powder room has been one of my most exciting projects because I've actually gotten to design it.
So here it is! I’m still finishing styling it, but it’s SO close to being done. I just need art to hang above the toilet and want to put a silver mint julep cup on the left side of the sink with some flowers (ranunculus, maybe?).
I'm most excited about using wallpaper in our house for the first time, and now I'm thinking, “What can I wallpaper next?” My dining room? (I love that wallpaper is having a moment right now, by the way!)
Since our ceilings aren't super tall and light doesn't flood into our home, we've purposefully used a lighter color pallet in some of our main spaces and on things like floors and wall paint. So I was interested in bringing more color to this room through the wallpaper, while still keeping things light.
I'll share the complete before and after once this room is completely done, the process, and things we learned along the way. Stay tuned!
